Manchester City: Pride In Battle

2024.12.27 22:50 oureagd This or That Day 1: Mario Balotelli vs Carlos Tevez

2024.12.28 01:09 got4ku Is it a problem in Europe for fans to abandon local clubs and support big teams instead?

Hi everyone,
In Morocco, we have a term called “footix” to describe fans who support big teams like Raja Casablanca or Wydad Casablanca instead of their local clubs, even if they’re from a different city like Tangier or Agadir. This phenomenon often leaves smaller clubs with fewer fans, even in their own hometowns, which hurts their growth and popularity.
I’m curious—does this happen in your country too? For example:

  • Do fans in smaller towns or regions often support big teams like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, or Bayern Munich instead of their local clubs?
  • How do people in your community perceive this? Are these fans criticized for not supporting their local teams?
  • Have smaller clubs in your country been able to grow their fanbases despite this?

I’d love to hear examples or stories from across Europe (or even beyond)! How does this dynamic impact football culture where you live?
Looking forward to your insights!

2024.12.28 01:43 bledd85 The Decline of Man City

I’m sure this has been done to death but would like others insight into the spectacular capitulation of Manchester City. Or if some think it’s overblown and they will go on their inevitable 19 game winning streak?
For me this is now the cost of their instant success and there’s only one person to blame. Mr Pep Guardiola. The departures and incoming transfers over the last few years have all been geared towards short term success and his rigid team setup.
Pep has allowed natural fullbacks such as Porro, Zinchenko and Cancelo to leave the club without replacing. He has had to become overly reliant on Kyle Walker and centre backs such as Ake and Gvardiol to play left back. This is not to suggest the departed full backs are world class but it would allow his centre backs to play in their natural positions and give better options on the flanks.
Likewise allowing Alvarez and Palmer to leave. Haaland has been a freak of nature up top but if he’s not scoring he will be a passenger. There is no alternative or Plan B if his service is cut off.
Wasting money on unneeded players. Would Man City have still won four titles in a row without Grealish, Phillips, Nunes etc? More than likely. Would they win 5-6 in a row if they’d saved that £200m+ and spent it wisely on a young midfield engine (Tchouameni, Rice etc), or full back (Mendes, Davies etc)? Again more than likely. A prime example of short termism.
Overall Pep has done an absolutely phenomenal job and there is no doubt losing a player of Rodris calibre would be a big loss to anyone. But I said on another post that one of the measures of a manager is the condition he leaves the club. If he were to leave tomorrow can anyone honestly say that the quality of the team is better than the one he inherited?

2024.12.28 11:52 eddymeshgood Exploitative Pyramid Scheme Jobs Targeting Job Seekers in Manchester

Hi,
I want to raise awareness about a growing issue in our area—scam marketing jobs. I’ve noticed these fraudulent job postings popping up repeatedly under different company names, preying on job seekers in the city.
I even interviewed with one of these so-called companies and was shocked to see how many candidates were vulnerable to these pyramid-style schemes, often out of desperation. It’s heartbreaking to think about how these scams exploit people who are just trying to find honest work. I hope they also figured it out before investing their time.
How are they able to keep changing their names and coming back so easily?
What actions can we take to protect job seekers and hold these companies accountable?
Why is there no apparent legal action against them?
I want to raise awareness about these scams after witnessing their never-ending hunt to exploit people.
Edit: Apparently, there is an article on it.

Companies Mentioned and Experiences
Promedia Direct “A typical day at work consists of unpaid office hours, traveling at your own expense, and knocking on doors to sell broadband or energy.” “The CEO takes half of every commission for a sale. Promises of progression are all lies.”
One 100 Consulting Ltd “Jamie Talbot is posting fake ads on Indeed under the name Inter Partners Group and other umbrella corporations.” “They promise progression but exploit vulnerable job seekers.”
Roar Ambition “Essentially operates as a pyramid scheme targeting graduates.” “Roles listed as marketing positions but involve door-to-door residential sales.”
Phase Marketing “One of the exploitative businesses mentioned alongside others as pyramid schemes.”
Brand Visionaries “Part of the same group of companies scamming young job seekers.”
Aztec Consulting International Ltd / Azure Global Consulting Ltd / A Z Global Marketing Limited “Incorporated recently, vague job descriptions, and no transparency about job roles.” “Operates out of cheap offices in Liverpool with no social media presence.”
Venture Enterprise “Based near Brunswick Station and associated with commission-only roles.”
Generation Northwest “Listed as one of the scam companies targeting graduates.”
Inter Partners Group “Fake job ads posted by Jamie Talbot for various locations, including Liverpool and Manchester.”
The Marketing Group “This one is based in Manchester, seeing many parallels with other scammy setups like Roar Ambition and Promedia Direct.”
These companies operate by posting vague job descriptions under the guise of marketing, consulting, or sales positions. They lure in job seekers with promises of progression, CEO roles, or “exciting opportunities.” Once you’re hooked, they subject you to multiple interviews and unpaid “induction mornings,” wasting hours of your life on empty promises. Many even make you pay for travel to remote locations where you work on commission-only schemes, often earning less than minimum wage.
For graduates and vulnerable job seekers, this is demoralizing and damaging. Their predatory tactics are designed to steal time, energy, and resources while they profit from your hard work under exploitative conditions.
I’m absolutely shocked by the sheer number of posts about these scams in the Liverpool community, especially over the past year. It’s disheartening to see how many people have fallen victim to these exploitative schemes, particularly vulnerable graduates eager to start their careers. This is clearly not an isolated issue, and it seems to be growing rapidly, impacting countless individuals in our city.
Should we escalate these exploitative practices to local politicians or MPs?

2024.12.28 11:46 BuddySteeze One more FGR save to finish of the year!

One more FGR save to finish of the year!

As the year comes to a close, I wanted to share an update on my career mode journey in FC24. It’s been an exhilarating ride, and I’m really proud of how things have developed.
I embarked on this save with a storyline centred around an ambitious ownership, determined to lead the club to the top in a financially sustainable way. Enter Stee Vee: a globally unknown Australian manager, former national team full-back, and a disciple of Jurgen Klopp. World Class difficulty.
23/24: A Foundation for Success Key signings: Irankunda (64), Edwards (67), Garbett (67), Edmond Addo (65), and Norton-Cuffy (67) on a two-year loan. These players were meant to form the backbone of the team.
I set up a high-pressing, attacking 3-striker system—gengenpress at its core. It was a high-risk, high-reward approach, with goals galore at both ends. A strong finish to the season saw us secure second place and automatic promotion.
24/25: Rising to the Challenge Key signings: Goalkeeper Labrovic (74) and marquee signing Sunjic (73) to bring leadership to the squad. We also made Norton-Cuffy’s loan permanent after his first season.
We were competitive all season, finishing with a strong run to win League One on the final day. No success in any of the cups.
25/26: The Dream Begins This is where things really started to take off. I managed to convince Jordon Bos (77) to join us, after he’d previously rejected us at the end of the last season—huge! We also signed Jebinson and sold our striker, Humphrys, to make way for the future.
Our play was electric. We were conceding over 1.5 goals a game but scoring 3.5! Irankunda started to hit top form, finishing the season with 60+ goals across all competitions. The FA Cup semi-final was unforgettable: we were 4-1 down at half-time to Liverpool, but Irankunda scored a hat-trick to level the game, and we won in extra time. In the final, we triumphed over Chelsea—what a dream run!
We also won the league, edging out Norwich by just one point. I was surprised to get promoted into the Prem a year sooner then I hoped/planned but it was awesome.
The most thrilling part of this save? It never mattered if we conceded first. The belief within the team was that FGR would always find a way back.
26/27: The Rock and Roll Revolution By now, we were the talk of the town: the new “rock and roll” football club where attack is the best form of defence, and the boys run their socks off for each other. Irankunda, our wonderkid, was attracting attention from Europe’s elite. At just 19, he committed to the project, and we secured a spot in European which was exciting for the whole group.
We needed reinforcements, though. With promotion to the Premier League ahead of schedule, and Europe now on the horizon, I brought in some bigger names. We signed a disgruntled Nick Pope from Newcastle, Hermoso (with 11 months left on his deal), and Kalmarken Sulemanna. Dewsberry-Hall and Dasilva also joined as midfield reinforcements.
The season began with the Community Shield—underdogs against the powerhouse Manchester City. The went up 1-0, then Araujo got sent off. It was still a grind but we equalised through Irankunda, sending it to penalties. Unfortunately, City won, but our performance sent shockwaves through the football world.
In our first Premier League encounter, we faced City again. Irankunda scored the opener, but we ended up losing 5-1. 😑 With the team still settling into its new identity, we made our pivotal signing: Niklas Dorsch from Augsburg. We poured the rest of our transfer budget into securing him to anchor the midfield. I also turned Garbett into a CF and played him through the middle and help on defence, he plays just like Bobby Firmino!
The season was a rollercoaster—struggling for consistency early on, but from December to February, we hit our stride. We beat Chelsea, United, and Spurs (twice) in a three-week period, cruised through the Europa League group stage with a perfect 6-0 record, and narrowly lost to Juventus in the R16 in an epic battle (5-3 away, 3-2 at home).
In the Premier League, we went neck and neck with Brighton for third place, eventually clinching fourth.
27/28: Building on With a significant transfer budget increase, and Champions League football, we knew we had to improve key areas. Hermoso’s stamina became a liability for us. We managed to do a deal with Borussia Dortmund for player plus £67 million for Nico Schlotterbeck. Josh Dasilva was horrible to use in game and I sold him and redirected funds into buying Lovro Majer.
We struggled with quality off the bench the previous season, so I added depth with Sterling (free), Bowen (free), Kelleher, and Greaves, all players who were out of favour at their clubs and could make an impact off the bench when needed. Addo and Sunjic remained club legends, providing solid contributions whenever called upon too. Our wage bill is good only 5 players above 34k per week, but I bet I’m going to have some negotiations come up in the coming season or 2.
We may have conceded a lot of goals, but this heavy-metal football has been a blast! 🤘Our attack is relentless, and we’re building something truly special.
